IP-UniLink is a project co-financed by the European Commission’s Erasmus Mundus Programme, under Action 4 ‘Enhancing Attractiveness’. This programme area funds “Projects seeking to establish links between higher education and research, and between higher education and business and to exploit, whenever possible, potential synergies.”
The main aim of the project is to promote EU Intellectual Property (IP) management practices to facilitate RTD linkages with BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) countries and university-industry links. The project centres on the extreme importance of BRIC countries as emerging strategic partners and associates for Europe.
The project activities include the study of trends in Higher Education (HE) on both micro and macro level to enhance joint research and future developments, promote transparent compatible IP management practices, create a good practice guide for managing IP and research collaboration between EU and BRIC countries. The project also includes dissemination in 3 major conferences in Europe, 4 in BRIC and one large-scale virtual conference. The project consortium includes one Higher Education Institution of each BRIC country, and three European Higher Education Institutions, all experienced in the field of Intellectual Property.
The project’s direct target groups are Higher Education Institutions in BRIC and EU and, specifically, university research and technology transfer departments.
Tangible project outputs include a project website, analysis results (guidelines), a good practice guide and a dissemination package. The intangible outputs envisaged are: a greater understanding of current trends and practices, linkages and synergies, and multiplier effects.
